Was ist Liebe?

Liebe ist das, was ohne Bedingung, ohne
Einschränkungen ohne Bedürfnis ist.
Weil es ohne Bedingung ist, erfordert es nichts,
um es zum Ausdruck bringen zu können.
Es verlangt nichts im Gegenzug und es entzieht
nichts aus Vergeltung.
Weil es ohne Einschränkung ist, erlegt es einem
anderen keine Begrenzungen auf. Es kennt kein
Ende, sondern setzt sich ewig fort. Es erfährt
keine Grenze oder Barriere. Weil es ohne Bedürfnis
ist, ist es bestrebt, nichts zu nehmen, was nicht
bereitwillig gegeben wird. Es ist bestrebt, an nichts
festzuhalten, was nicht festgehalten zu werden
wünscht. Es ist bestrebt, nichts zu geben, was nicht
freudig willkommen geheißen wird.
Und es ist frei. Liebe ist das, was frei ist, denn
Freiheit ist die Essenz dessen, was Gott ist,
und Liebe ist Gott zum Ausdruck gebracht.
FAITH, HOPE AND LOVE
(I Corinthians Chapter 13)
Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not love,
I am but a sounding gong, a clanging cymbal.
And though I have the gift of all prophecy,
And understand all mysteries and all knowledge; and though I have all faith,
so that I could remove mountains,
Yet have not love,
I am nothing.
And though I share all my good among the poor,
And though I give my body to be burnt,
But have not love,
It profits me nothing.
Love is patient and kind;
Love is not envious, nor vain,
She does not behave herself unseemly,
Seeks not her own good,
Is not easily provoked,
Keeps no account of her wrongs,
Rejoices not in iniquity but rejoices in the truth,
Always charitable, always trusting,
Always hopeful, always steadfast.
Love shall never pass away,
But prophesy shall cease,
The gift of tongues shall end,
And knowledge shall vanish away.
For our knowledge is imperfect, and our utterance imperfect;
But when that which is perfect is come
All that is imperfect shall be done away...
